Staff of Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary

The Maryknoll Sisters Center for Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation, also popularly known as Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary is managed by two groups of people: The Board of Trustees, who decides the policies of the organization, and the Staff who implement the programs and projects to attain the objectives of the Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary.

The Board of Trustees has five members and the following officers: The President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and a member.

Executive Staff

Sr. Catherina Encarnacion, MM is the Directress of the Center. She holds the vision of the Center and coordinates the programs and administrative functions of the staff. She is a Maryknoll graduate (AB Child Development Education’88). Her mission area is in Darien, Panama, where she lent her services until she had to return to the Philippines. She also taught at the Miriam College Grade School and worked with the Miriam Environmental Office.

Sr. Margarita Jamias, MM  is a Resource Person, facilitates programs and is the JPIC advocate of the Center. She graduated from Maryknoll College with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Her Master's degree are in Education from Ataneo University, Theological Studies from Maryknoll School of Theology, New York and Applied Theology from the School of Applied Theology, Graduate Theological Union Berkley, California.  Her previous mission experiences were in Guatemala, Nicaragua and the United States. 

Mary Jane Foy-os is a Maryknoll Affiliate who works as Center Administrator and program facilitator. A teacher, she taught at St. Louis Girls’ High School for 11 years before joining the Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary in 1998. She has a Bachelor of Science in Education, Major in Religion and a Master of Arts in Education from Benguet State University.

Betty Tumbaga is the Sunbeams Day Care teacher. She taught at the Marishan School before she joined the MES staff in 1999. She holds a degree in AB English. Betty is also responsible for planning rituals for groups on retreat or recollection. She is also a resource person for the Cosmic Journey and officer in-charge of the Sanctuary Shop.

Clemente Delim is the resident artist. Although Clemente is hearing impaired, his artistic abilities are called upon to enable groups to do pottery painting and other kinds of artistic expressions.

Mary Ann Chadya-as joined the staff in 2000. She works as assistant secretary (documentor, inventory, property custodian) and program assistant. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Legal Indigenous Studies from Easter College and is studying towards her Law degree.

Cathy Domigyay is the Center weaver who produces handwoven items with creative Cordillera designs. Cathy also works as main staff in charge of the Biodynamic Learning Site. She also assists in the Sanctuary Shop.

 Helen Challoway is the maintenance staff at the Center; Roberto Molina is the gardener who maintains the Cosmic Journey; Virginia Gabertan maintains the bio-shelter, the 14th station on the Cosmic Journey.
